Designer Amigurumi | Crochet Book Review Tiny Curl

I am thrilled to introduce Designer Amigurumi: A Cosmopolitan Collection of Crochet Creations from Talented Designers!

I had the pleasure of designing 3 patterns for Designer Amigurumi published by Tuva Publishing. The book features a total of 18 irresistibly cute patterns by 9 talented designers. The cuties in the picture above are Cheeky Bird, one of my patterns, and Buttons the Bunny, a pattern by Mari- Liis Lille (@lilleliis_official on Insta)!

The book is beautifully printed on glossy paper and has everything you need to make each pattern. Keep reading for a deeper look into the book…

The coolest thing about Designer Amigurumi is that it features 9 skilled designers from around the world, each with their own unique style. Each designer brings something different to the book and I love that I can try different construction and shaping techniques with each design.
Designers:
Sandrine Deveze (@tournicote)
Kristi Tullus (@kristitullus)
Dilek Yildirim (@dileksworld)
Katerina Nikolaidau (@nina.hookcreations)
Mari-Liis Lille (@lilleliis_official)
Soledad Iglesias Silva (@handmadelenon)
Tatyana Korobkova (@denizastoysjoys)
Tine Nielsen (@littlehappycrochet)
and, of course, me! Kristina Turner (@tinycurl)!!!

The book also includes in-depth stitch tutorials and tips, making it a great book for crocheters getting started with amigurumi. As an advanced crocheter, I still found the patterns interesting and fun to make! It truly has something for everyone.

So far, I’ve used the book to make Buttons the Bunny and Cheeky Bird (it’s weird following your own pattern)! But I have my eye on several more – I’m looking at you Backpacking Cat!

For Buttons the Bunny, I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Bright Peach, Lipstick Pink, and Washed Teal and a size B Clover Amour hook. Mari-Liis very smartly showed how you can make a larger version with worsted weight yarn or a smaller bunny with DK weight. I gave it a little touch of my own style with the fully embroidered face and decided to leave the button off to make it more kid-friendly. This pattern was such a joy to follow. I loved the sweet design and thorough instruction.

For Cheeky Bird, I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran in Blush Pink, Sky Blue, and Daffodil Yellow using a size D Clover Amour hook. The popcorn stitches for Cheeky Bird’s sweater are a bit challenging, but the book does a good job of describing it step by step.

The 2 other patterns I designed for the book are Happy Girl and Heart Cat. They are both about 12″ tall, making them the perfect size to snuggle! But, of course, you can switch up your yarn weight to adjust the sizing.
